Getting to Jyväskylä

As some of you have asked about how to get to Jyväskylä from Helsinki airport. Below is some simple advise, but please notice that timetables for mid-June are not available yet. Major changes are unlikely, so you can check connection e.g. from March and they will likely be the same in June, too:

TRAIN - Finnish trains are operated by a company called VR. To get a train to Jyväskylä you need to get to Tikkurila railway station by bus 61 or 61V from Helsinki-Vantaa aiport, in front of Terminal 2. Cost is 2,70€ and takes some 15 minutes. By train, it takes 3+ hours to reach Jyväskylä. Timetables can be found in English: http://www.vr.fi/en/index.html (From Tikkurila to Jyväskylä). Tickets can be bought online and printed beforehand.

BUS - buses run directly from airport to Jyväskylä. You'll find timetables from Matkahuolto-webpages:
http://matkahuolto.fi/en/ Starting place needs to be "Helsinki-Vantaa" and destination "Jyväskylä" (you get message "search gave several place names", but just press "search timetable" at the bottom of the page.

PLANE - planes between Jyväskylä and Helsinki are currently very cheap, cheaper than buses or train in many cases, but problem is that there are only few connection a day. You can check them from Flybe: http://www.flybe.com/ From Jyväskylä (Tikkakoski) airport you have a direct bus to the center for 5€. It leaves after passangers have had a chance to pick up their baggage.

In case of Tampere airport, there is bus connection to the center and best way to get to Jyväskylä is by train (1,5 hours).

For those coming from Russia, you need not to take your train all the way to Helsinki. Trip is substantively shorter if you exit in Kouvola and take a train (or bus) from there to Jyväskylä. You also save some money. Check Matkahuolto and VR webpages for timetables.
